I am a teaching-focused Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Warwick. I joined the department shortly after finishing my PhD at Vancouver School of Economics, UBC, in August 2021.
Since joining Warwick, I have specialized in the teaching of microeconometrics and applied research to undergraduate and MSc students. One of the exciting things about these fields is their every changing content: new tools generate the opportunity for new research and further learning. Continued engagement in primary research helps me keep in touch with the latest microeconometric developments and makes me a more engaging teacher and supervisor. Right now, I am working on a projects related to xenophobia and foreign entrepreneurship in South Africa, as well as fast-food exposure and obesity in the UK. I also believe that what we should use our research skills to study and improve our academic programmes. At Warwick, I am a lead member of the Student Progression Working Group. We collect and analyze departmental data on student performance and engagement to inform the design of our programmes and curriculum. The group has been instrumental in moving the department and wider university towards more evidence-based practice.
